in which our heroine curses at photoshop. repeatedly.

well, i came up with a header. took the photo and everything. here's the alternate...i just didn't feel like fighting with html any more, not to mention photoshop. indesign , and to a lesser extent, illustrator, are so intuitive to me, but not photoshop. so that's why it's all font, no effects.

incessant organization

Lots of things in the works or in the brain. Trying to get them organized.
-Started a new swatch for the lace sweater from "Knitter's Stash." Found some Lion Brand Microfiber--the color selection isn't that great but the yarn is soft and cheap and works up to gauge. Yippers. I picked black, can't go wrong with that. Pics once I get more done than two measly pattern repeats on the sleeve.
- Lined zippered pouches from Craftster. I've made about a dozen of these and I am addicted. Just bought a bunch more zippers in fact. Wicked easy and good practice for zipper-sewing. I have a crappy old shower curtain liner I'm gonna cut up and use as the lining, if possible...instant ditty bag. Not sure how the sewing machine will take to vinyl. Pics also soon.
- Granola bars. Been meaning to make those things. Someday! All that healthy junk is sitting there on the counter, waiting to be combined. Heh.
- Bought a McCall's pattern on sale the other day...tote bag and other sundry carriers. Pattern calls for fat quarters but I think I'll try it with solids. Mostly I wanted just a tote bag pattern as I was having trouble figuring out the ones on Craftster.
-Want to try the Craftgrrl el cheapo grande screenprinting someday. Someday!
-The Village Knittiot has a very cool writing exercise up on her blog. Bookmark it!

obligatory pic heavy first post

my html is as rusty as...something rusty. but here we go.

Magic Strip Socks

Yarn: Lion Brand Magic Stripes (superwash wool) in...something purpley. less than 1 skein.
Needles: size 3 DPNS
Pattern: came off the ball band. no modifications.
Comments: the first one (the one on top in the pic) came out a little slouchy, but this was my first time on DPNS. second one fits like a charm. if you look real close you'll see the stripes are backwards, because for the first one i took the yarn from the center of the ball but for the second one i took it from the outside, because sometimes i'm a little simple. anyway i like these socks, they are comfy and washable, and people will probably be getting some for christmas this year.

Tasha

Yarn: TLC (all it says is TLC. 100% acrylic) in Linen. less than 1 skein.
Needles: 6 straights
Pattern: Tasha from Knitty. no mods.
Comments: as previously notes, i'm simple, so the strap is horribly, horribly long. that's what i get for short-attention-span knitting. also there are eight-count-em-eight seams in this tiny thing. but it's the perfect size to carry around socks-in progress. and the cables, up close, are pretty cool. the yarn has a nifty sheen too it, too.
